The Artist Behind the Ink
Riad is an Arabic calligraphy artist based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. What began as a childhood fascination with the flowing forms of the Arabic script grew into a lifelong devotion — a craft he has spent years refining, stroke by stroke.
His work bridges two worlds: the deep spiritual heritage of Islamic calligraphy and the vibrant, contemporary energy of his homeland. Each piece is drawn entirely by hand, using traditional reed pens, ink, and gold leaf — no prints, no shortcuts.
For Riad, calligraphy is more than decoration. It is a form of meditation, a way of giving the sacred words of the Arabic language a physical, lasting presence. Every curve carries intention; every flourish is a prayer made visible.
The Tools
Traditional reed pens (qalam), hand-ground ink, and genuine gold leaf — the same tools used by master calligraphers for centuries.
The Process
Each piece begins with careful study of the script, then hours of patient, deliberate strokes. Nothing is rushed; nothing is repeated.
The Meaning
Riad works primarily with sacred verses and names, treating each as a living text that deserves reverence and care.
